The deceased had been ill for about a year and although the end was expected it was quite a shock when he was found dead shortly after noon. He leaves a wife, a son George, and a daughter Nettie. Mr. Runnels was a well known resident of the west side, and a member of the Knights of Honor. The burial will take place Saturday, the funeral services to be held at the home at 2 p.m. and interment to be in Earlham. Friends may call at any time.8
     Obituary: Alfred Runnels, of Richmond, Ind., a former well known farmer of this vicinity, died there last Thursday, Oct. 18, 1911. aged 75 years, 4 months and 17 days. He had been in failing health for the past four years. He leaves a wife, one son George and one daughter Nettie and a host of friends.1

She was born in Dearborn county, Ind., on October 14, 1840, coming to this city 40 years ago, taking up residence at 38 Richmond avenue, where she resided until last January when illness forced her removal to the home of the son, George. She enjoyed a wide circle of friends, created by her cheery smile and sunny disposition. She was very well known in this city, especially on the west side. Her husband, Alfred, died in 1911. Surviving are the son, George; one daughter, Nettie Runnels; two granddaughters, Pearl and Jeannette Runnels; a brother, George D. Morgan, of New Alsace, Ind; a sister, Eliza Morgan, of St. Leon, Ind. Funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of the son, 309 North Fourteenth street, with the Rev. R. Howard M. Augustine of the First Presbyterian church in charge. Interment will be made in the family lot in the Earlham cemetery. Friends may call at the tome any time after 6 o'clock Saturday.6
