Obituary: Minerva Fisher was born in Richland County, Ohio April 5,1825, and died at her home near Maxwell, Iowa, Friday April 19, 1907, aged eighty-two years and fourteen days. Aunt "Nerva", as she was familiarly called, was married to Samuel Scott in Illinois February 25, 1843, to which happy union were born six children, four of whom died in childhood and await the mother on the Golden Shores of Eternity. The family removed to Iowa in 1864 and located in the northwestern part of the state. where they remained until 1868, when they located on the farm in the north edge of Polk County, southeast of Maxwell, and have since continually made that their home. She was a member of the Baptist church for over fifty years and died in the love of her Savior and possessed of the esteem of all who knew her. Besides the aged husband she leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. Melissa Barton and Mrs. Mary Bell, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-granchildren. Five years ago she sustained a fall which rendered her helpless, and since which time she has been tenderly cared for by her daughters and neighbors with warm hearts and although an invalid whe was ever cheerful and contented. The funeral was from the Peoria Methodist Presbyterian Church, last Sabbath at 2:00 P.M., conducted by the pastor, Rev. William McVay, who preached from Mark 14:8. "She done what she could." During the many long years of residence here this estimable family has become known far and wide and were universally respected on account of the personality. Sturdy pioneers of days long since past, the seem a part of the community and many a heart of loving friends bleed freely at the parting. The large number of friends in attendance at the funeral bear the strongest testimony of personal regards. Dust to Dust; Ashes to Ashes. (MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Thursday April 25, 1907, page 8.)2
