Samuel Wheatley was born on 3 September 1857 in Fordoun, Kincardineshire, Scotland. He was the son of John Wheatley and Mary Will. He married Helen Burness, daughter of Helen Gordon, on 31 March 1911 in 1101 Pollockshaws Road, Glasgow, Scotland. He died on 7 March 1927 in 1101 Pollockshaws Road, Glasgow, Scotland, at age 69.
