     David Burness was born circa 1738 in Hawkhill, Glenbervie, Kincardineshire, Scotland. He was the son of James Burness and Margaret Beattie. He married Katharine Milne, daughter of Robert Milne and Jean Stewart, on 25 June 1774 in Glenbervie, Kincardineshire, Scotland. He died in 1816 in Boghead, Kintore, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
