Early this morning his wife heard him breathing heavily and when she stepped to his side found him passing away. Mr. Scott was born June 23, 1827 in Mansfield, O. At the age of eleven he came to Winnebago County, settling in Burritt. He lived there until 1871 when he went to Floyd County, Ia., and became one of the founders of Rockford of that county. He lived there until 1889, when he returned to this city, living here since.His first wife and mother of his children, was Mary Moffatt, who died six years ago. Four years ago he married Mrs. Cornelia Watson. He is survived by his wife, one son and five daughters. The latter are: Mrs. William Hartley of Durand; Mrs. N.C. Oleson, Cedar Falls, Ia; Mrs. O.H. Henkel, Chicago; Mrs. Seth Hanchett, Estherville, Ia; Mrs. L.R. Shumway of this city; H.T. Scott of Rockford, Ia. He also leaves two brothers and sisters; James and Charles Scott of Burritt, Mrs. William Knapp and Mrs. Eugene Wemple of Rockford.
