He retired in 1965 as foreman in the gas department of the City of Hamilton where he had been employed 35 years. Mr. Schaub was a members of the oldimers Club. In 1933 he married Helen Bauer who preceded him in death in 1946. He married Goldie Mann Gentile in 1959. He leaves his widow, Goldie Mann Gentile; one son, Clarence L. Schaub, Hamilton; three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Pedro, Haywood, Calif., Mrs. Joseph Irvine, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Janice Smith, Hamilton; three step-daughters, Mrs. Antoinette Crawford, and Mrs. Marilyn Woods, both of Florida, and Mrs. Theresa Rhinehimer, Hamilton; a twin brother, Clifford Schaub, Hamilton; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Green, Mrs. Martha Nugent and Mrs. Mildred Jennings, all of Hamilton; 10 grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. Third St. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation after 5 p.m. Wednesday.6

He served in World War II from 1942-1945 in the Air Corps as a Tech Sgt, taking part in over two hundred hours of long range bombing missions and was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross, Four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Air Medal. Mervin retired from WPAFB, where he was an aircraft mechanic. He was a long time member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, in West Carrollton. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Johnson; and brothers, Wayne and Jim Johnson. Mervin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Johnson; daughter, Debbie (Ron) Carmichael; son, Darrell (Sharon) Johnson; grandchildren, Melissa Johnson, Rhiannon and Zachary Carmichael; brothers, Mark, Joe, and Francis Johnson; sister, Virginia Coffman; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will follow, with Pastor Andy Wagner officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.2
